The Spirit in the Computer

My website is at http://www.wordaligned.org where you can find a little more about me. I’m a member of the ACCU.

How did I get here?

Serendipity. Over the past few years, I’ve become increasingly interested in dynamic languages, so naturally I was receptive to the ideas in Paul Graham’s Hackers & Painters. It was this book which brought Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs to my attention, and in particular the following quotation from its preface:

Programs must be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute.

So, when an invitation appeared on the accu general mailing list, I signed up.
